HAVING KICKED off his latest Irish tour off with a packed Olympia Theatre gig recently, award-winning impressionist Oliver Callan is currently bringing his live music, satire, and comedy across the country sending up the top names in politics, sport, and entertainment. The Callan bus pulls into the Black Box Theatre on Friday November 27 at 8pm for what promises to be a laughter-packed evening.

The two day October Bank Holiday meeting kicks off on Sunday, October 25 with the first race at 1.30pm, and Bank Holiday Monday October 26 at 1.25pm.  There are 14 races, generously sponsored by many local firms over two great days of competitive National Hunt racing, with an impressive total prize fund of over €215,000 on offer which is sure to attract runners from many of Ireland’s top stables. The feature race on Sunday is “The Faber Audiovisuals Handicap Hurdle” and on Monday “The Ennis Lifts Handicap Steeplechase”.

Make time for music this week with plenty of great acts at The Snug Bar, before the sport takes top billing on Sunday. 

When I played with the Corofin seniors from 1989 until 2004, we had a fairly good team, with Michael and Aidan Donnellan, Martin McNamara, Trevor Burke, Eddie Steede, Gerry Burke and Derek Reilly as good as any club player in the country.
