Castlebar Celtic returned to top spot in the Masters League division one on Wednesday night last following a dominant win over Fahy Rovers with Manulla and Ballina also impressing in victory. Ballina Municipal District councillors have agreed to communicate their thanks and appreciation to Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring following the recent allocations for projects as part of the Town and Village renewal Scheme in the county. At a Municipal District meeting last week councillors were informed that all four projects in the county which had applied for funding were successful.

The Junior School Warden service is designed to provide safe crossing facilities in the vicinity of primary schools in provincial towns and villages where a 50km/h speed limit applies adjacent to the school. The Junior School Warden scheme has been operating in Ireland since 1969. Its continued success is due to the dedication, hard work, and co-operation of all involved in its implementation, including Garda trainers, school principals, local authorities, and most importantly, the pupils themselves.

School choirs from all over Ireland will perform in the SCCUL Schools Choral Competition on Friday May 6. The competition which is hosted by GMIT will see choirs from Dublin, Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and Galway compete at Primary and Post- Primary level.

Avaya Voice were singing on high after winning the top prize in the 2016 Galway Choir Factor Competition which took place in the Radisson Blu Hotel at the weekend.
