More than 100 volunteers from around the world are in Connemara this week for the Volunteer Summer Summit, an international event organised by the European Federation of Intercultural Learning (EFIL) and hosted this year by EIL Intercultural Learning (EIL/AFS Ireland).

“We’re dealing with questions of identity, questions about the language, and about the position of the language today. And we’re looking at those questions in a humorous, engaging way that will get people thinking about them.”

Opening July 17 at 7pm, the new show is titled Túath, the old Irish word from Brehon law era, meaning territory as well as the people who live there. Three Connacht-based artists will explore the shifting dynamics between person and place with their own questions, influences, and materials.

There will be two featured acts on the night, plus invited guests and a selection of local performers.
