Mayo photographers take home awards at IPPA Awards

Two Mayo photographers took home awards at the 2016 IPPA Awards which were held in Dublin last Sunday. Ballina based photographer David Farrell won the Best Press and Photojournalism Photographer 2016 award, and Westport based snapper Michael McLaughlin took home the Best Landscape Photographer 2016 gong. McLaughlin also won the Single Image Award on the night at the ceremony which was held in Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin.

The issue of local roads that are not in public ownership has seen a couple in Achill being prevented from buying a house, it was claimed by local councillor Paul McNamara. The Achill based Fianna Fáil councillor told the February meeting of the West Mayo Municipal District that the couple had agreed a mortgage with the bank but the sale could not go through because of the ownership of the road.
