Galway Community College of Further Education (GCC) continues to offer full-time courses in a wide variety of career areas designed for entry to skilled employment, in preparation for starting an apprenticeship, or for progression to further and higher education. For some, these courses may be used as a transition year, an opportunity to sample new vocational areas before committing to a longer course of study in university. All GCC's one-year courses offer a mix of blended learning, with work experience and funded Erasmus placements. These courses are aimed at Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied graduates, mature learners and anyone finding themselves considering changing their career path.

Three ATU teams compete in prestigious Enterprise Ireland National Student Entrepreneur Awards
Over one hundred students (40 teams) across Atlantic Technological University (ATU) recently competed in the ATU Entrepreneur Awards of the 2023 Enterprise Ireland Student Entrepreur Awards competition. Eleven teams from a wide range of disciplines won awards in the ATU competition and three teams will now go on to compete in the next stage of the national competition.

Minister of State Hildegarde Naughton has welcomed confirmation from her colleague, Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris, that students in the west will be able to benefit from the introduction of new degrees which will be offered to students outside the traditional CAO system.
