Cannabis cultivation lands woman before local court

A 30-year-old woman came before Ballina Court on Tuesday after she was detected cultivating cannabis plants in her apartment. 

Judge Mary Devins heard Agnieszka Szymendera, with an address at Apartment 1, Fashion Shop Apartments, Pearse Street, Ballina, was growing the two cannabis plants, worth €1,600, for her own use.

Gardaí also found €101 worth of cannabis herb when they searched the apartment on October 10 last, on foot of information provided by a source. 

Szymendera pleaded guilty to two charges relating to cannabis cultivation and unlawful possession of drugs. 

Judge Mary Devins heard the defendant has no previous convictions in Ireland. 

The judge ordered a probation report for the defendant and adjourned the case to September.
