Ballina school to put on fundraiser for Crumlin children’s hospital

St Mary’s Secondary School, Ballina, has announced details of an American Grease Carnival on Wednesday April 30 in aid of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. The event promises to be a kaleidoscope of colour and carnival,  as the TY students invite local school children to take part in an exciting American style event.

The American Grease Carnival will see national school goers visit the grounds of St Mary’s Secondary School where they will be welcomed by the TY class of 2013/14 and introduced to seven dance stations. Here they will be guided through a choreographed dance which they will participate in as part of a whole-group event during the festivities.

A raffle, goodie bags, rainbow theme, American football, and cheer-leading are just a few of the elements already confirmed for the day -  all to the backdrop of stage, sound, and music by Liam Brennan.

Event coordinator, Annette Leonard, said the 2014 event “promises to be a day to remember” for students, staff, and participants. “Every year the transition year students come up with a new, exciting, and colourful way of raising vital funds for Crumlin hospital and this year is no exception. The girls have worked hard to come up with a completely new event which will see St Mary’s transformed into a Stateside paradise for one day only” said Ms Leonard.  The American Grease Carnival commences at 11am on April 30 with registration for national school students at St Mary’s Secondary School, Convent Hill, Ballina.
