Mayo Day Live – Global Voices

From 1pm to 3pm on Saturday on www.mayo.ie

This Saturday May 2, Mayo Day will take place solely online, with a live show on www.mayo.ie and Mayo.ie’s Facebook Page.

Like previous years’ Mayo Day will be filled with music and entertainment, but this time www.mayo.ie will be the stage for Mayo Day Live – Global Voices presented by Liam Horan and Louise Duffy, it will broadcast live from 1pm to 3pm on www.mayo.ie

The show will be a mix of chat, interviews, music and messages of hope and solidarity for a special Mayo Day from well-known people from Mayo and those who love  Mayo.

Viewers can look forward to an exclusive interview with internationally acclaimed chairperson of The Elders, and Ballina native, Mary Robinson, who will speak about what Mayo means to her and give her thoughts on the current global epidemic. Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring will speak to Mayo Communities at home and away on a very special Mayo Day 2020

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and former Taoiseach Enda Kenny will send their messages for the people of Mayo, as too will Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces Mark Mellett together with a number of well know civic and public leaders from our county.

Beautifully recorded performances from some of Co. Mayo’s most talented will also feature on the show, including a song from Cathal Gavin - Mayo Young person of the Year 2020, the inimitable Lisa Canny - no stranger to Mayo Day performances, Stuart Moyles promises to bring some high energy to the show along with trad enthusiasts Billow Wood.

Former RTE newsreader Michael Murphy will also send his wishes for #MayoDay, along with well-known TV and radio personalities such as RTE’s Aoibheann Ní Shuilleabhain, Virgin Media’s Ray Foley and Today FM’s Ed Smith and Phil Cawley.

There will also be link-ups with our global Mayo communities in London, New York, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicago, Malaysia, Dubai, and Sydney and closer to home, from our Mayo Associations in Galway, Dublin and Manchester.
