Step out in style

Pepe Jeans looked to the hipster hang-outs of East London for its autumn/winter 2012 womenswear collection.

This season it channelled the trends coming through on the fashion-forward streets of London’s Brick Lane and Shoreditch to create a vibrant mix of eclectic styles designed for the modern bohemian girl.

A mix of modern and vintage, of trend-led and thrift store, created an eclectic look derived straight from the cafés and late-night speak-easies of England’s capital.

Traditional English country jackets in waxed-cotton are reinterpreted for a slim-lined modernist customer. Flirty tea-dresses in dainty mini-prints combine with polka dot tops and cosy knits to create a clash of textures and prints. The colour palette combines uplifting tones with faded prints and fabrics which include cotton crepes, soft-to-touch knits and sumptuous silk mixes.

Short, narrow-fit skirts, sharply-tailored jackets and sexy cigarette pants are the foundations of a collection which is all about clean lines and elegant proportions.

The historic British theme is underlined through a use of heritage-era checks on crisp shirts and plaid woollen fabrics on modish outerwear. Leather pieces and coated denims reinforce the rock’n’roll credentials of the era with printed cotton and silk dresses providing a more feminine edge to the London Calling look.

Flecked wools in knitwear evoke the British vintage feel while a monochrome mix of black-and-white is big news. Shades of royal blue and pillar-box red combine with British racing green and blackcurrant shades to channel a more refined aesthetic.

Pepe Jeans’ Portobello range is young, vibrant and fun reflecting the energy of Notting Hill’s young fashion scene.

Cute graphic print jerseys and chunky intarsia knits are combined with slim-fit plaid lumberjack shirts and skinny twill chino pants to deliver a look which is as at home on the streets of West London as it is on the boulevards of Berlin, Madrid or Barcelona.
