Rooney Auctioneers, Estate Agents & Valuers has announced the opening of its new Galway city office, officially launched this week by the Mayor of Galway, Peter Keane. Located in The Cornstore, this new branch marks a proud milestone in the ongoing expansion of one of Ireland’s most respected property firms.
With more than 50 years of experience, Rooney Auctioneers has become synonymous with professionalism, trust, and results, values firmly rooted in the company’s origins under the stewardship of the Kearney family in Limerick. Over the decades, generations of homebuyers, sellers, and investors across Munster have relied on Rooney’s for honest service and expert guidance. Now, Galway will benefit from that same legacy, following the acquisition earlier this year of Rooney Auctioneers Galway which was most recently led by Ronan Rooney, and originally established by his father, the late Raymond Rooney.
Rooney Auctioneers Limerick was founded in 1970 by Pat Kearney, who helped shape the company into a cornerstone of Limerick’s property industry. Pat’s commitment to both business and civic life saw him serve as President of the Limerick Chamber of Commerce in 1998, a role his son Gordon Kearney would also hold in 2012, making them the first father-son duo to lead the Chamber. Rooney Auctioneers is now also a proud members of Galway Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to building relationships and developing business opportunities across this dynamic and progressive network.
Now in its second generation, the firm is led by siblings Gordon, Peter, and Lisa Kearney. Under their leadership, Rooney Auctioneers has embraced industry transformation, with Lisa Kearney’s appointment as President of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers (IPAV ) in 2024 further reinforcing the firm’s leadership in Irish real estate. Rooney Auctioneers upholds the highest standards in professional training and ethics, with a team that includes members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS ), the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI ), the European Group of Valuers’ Associations (TEGoVA ), and IPAV. Their valuers are both Blue Book and Red Book accredited, offering clients a truly comprehensive and professional service.
The new Galway branch is under the leadership of Deirdre D’Arcy, a Galway native and a respected figure in the region’s property sector. Her local knowledge, market insight, and strong client focus exemplify the values at the heart of Rooney Auctioneers. The Galway office offers the best of both worlds, national reach paired with deep local roots and provides tailored solutions for homebuyers, investors, developers, and businesses across the region. The team is already active in serving Galway city and surrounding areas.
Gordon Kearney, Managing Director of Rooney Auctioneers Limerick, said: “We are thrilled to bring Rooney Auctioneers Galway into the fold. This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity to extend our trusted services into the Galway region, building on our reputation for excellence and client satisfaction. It also aligns perfectly with our mission to grow while maintaining the high standards our clients have come to expect.”
