Well known Galway Irish Red Cross officer Brian Madden has been appointed as National Treasurer on the board of the organisation.

Mr Madden has been an active member of the Irish Red Cross since 1968, contributing across a wide range of operational and leadership roles.

He has served as Unit Officer in Galway City Branch, Deputy Area Commandant, and Area Director of Units (ADU ) from 2000 to 2010. Since 2016, he has held the position of Treasurer for Galway City Branch.

Brian Madden is a licensed PHECC Emergency Medical Technician (EMT ) and Assistant Tutor. He played a key role in coordinating the acquisition of the current Galway vehicle fleet and continues to support the region as a Community Support Officer.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Brian was an active member of both the Galway City and County Council forums.

He also led the Irish Red Cross response to Storm Eowyn in Galway, working closely with members, neighbouring areas, and Head Office staff to deliver critical support.”

Mr Madden has tirelessly worked for the Galway Red Cross, especially over the last 25 years helping to build up the fleet, securing a premises for the ambulances and a training centre in Liosbaun. His wife Deirdre and all of his family are immensely proud of him, as are his colleagues and friends in the city and beyond.
