Ireland West Airport today welcomes the announcement that funding of €5,663,704 has been approved for Ireland West Airport in 2025.
This funding is being allocated in support of 11 projects eligible for support under the Public Policy Remit – Capital (PPR- C ) and CAPEX funding schemes under the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025.
The Programme provides for Exchequer support for critical safety and security projects and to support the airports sustainability initiatives, as the airport undertakes work on several projects to meet our commitment of net zero for our carbon emissions by 2050.
Projects Approved for Capital Investment in 2025 include:
Construction of a new Aerodrome Fire Training Centre; Security Systems Upgrade; Air Traffic Control Charts; Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade; Solar PV Farm; Electrical Hi Loader; Electrical Ambulift; Air Traffic Control Engineering Vehicle Replacement; Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGLs ); and Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 4 Transition
The airport will invest over €1.1 million to support the completion of these projects in addition to the exchequer funding.
Welcoming this announcement, Arthur French, Chairman, Ireland West Airport welcomed the announcement of funding by the Minister of Transport, Darragh O’Brien TD, of over €5.6m, and acknowledge him and local Ministers Dara Calleary and Alan Dillon for this support for the Airport to maintain compliance with relevant EU safety and security regulatory requirements and also in supporting six key projects with a fundamental sustainability focus.
