Music is Maria's first love, and following time spent in several bands, she set up her own record label Mermaid Records in 2000.
Doyle Kennedy has released 11 solo albums, including her most recent, Fire on the Roof of Eden, which was named one of the albums of the year by the Irish Times.
Hot Press has hailed her as one of Ireland’s most accomplished vocalists, and even named her a national treasure.
Beyond music, Maria’s acting career spans over three decades, with standout roles in The Tudors, Orphan Black, Outlander, Downton Abbey, and KIN—for which she won her fourth The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA ) award.
For Maria, the shared experience of live music at a gig is something she cherishes. She says it helps her to make sense of the world. “The world is especially overwhelming at the moment,” she says, “but there is music, and it still makes sense - it offers joy, comfort, and connection.”
