With March being the month that holds International Women’s Day it is timely that The Hardiman has just announced its support of girls and women through their new year long sponsorship of Castlegar Camogie.

The Hardiman, established over 170 years ago, has supported the local Galway communities throughout this time and are excited to announce its latest community partnership.

Castlegar GAA, supporting its teams since 1975 covers the east part of Galway city. The Camogie club has exploded to now have over two hundred members and fields teams ranging from u6 to adult level. Their Nursery programme, Castlegar Cubs for three and four year olds on Saturday mornings is also very strong and continuing to go from strength to strength. Their most recent achievement was last year when the club won the Senior County League Division Two.

One of Galway’s best-known clubs, it is steeped in GAA history and has always worked tirelessly to nurture, grow, and develop all of its members. The club is ambitious and progressive and as part of its plans to sustain for the future, it is working with the hurling club to continue to improve facilities for all its members and the local community.

This partnership will further enhance the club and it is important that everyone can benefit from these improvements and Castlegar are delighted to now have the support of The Hardiman.

Club Chairman Mike Crowe stated at the launch.

“We are delighted and honoured to enter into this exciting new partnership with The Hardiman and I would like to thank all the staff and management for this opportunity for our club. The Hotel is synonymous with Galway and holds a special place in the heart of many Galwegians. We look forward to working and developing this partnership over the coming years.”

To announce and celebrate the partnership, The Hardiman recently hosted a launch evening for the unveiling of the new sponsored home and away jerseys in its new pub, MacNeill’s. Players from all squads attended on the night as well as club official’s and coaches.
