Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Galway has shown great community spirit after supporting Galway Simon Community throughout 2023.

The Enterprise team at the Tuam Road branch held a successful car wash fundraising event, despite the heavy rainfall, to raise funds for those who are at risk of homelessness. These efforts, along with a donation from Enterprise Mobility’s local grant programme, raised €2,150 for the charity.

“It is a pleasure to be participating in such a meaningful cause that is so important to the community, especially in times of need,” said Paul Cummiskey, Enterprise Rent-A-Car Branch Manager in Galway. “The charity has seen a growing number of requests for help, so we felt it was important to support their efforts in whatever way we could.”

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car team assisted in delivering hundreds of Christmas gifts from the Galway Giving Tree Grotto to the Ballinasloe Resource Centre. Additionally, the team helped Galway Simon with its quarterly FEAD (Fund for European Aid to the most Deprived ) run by providing a driver and a van to distribute food across the city.

Joan Reinhardt, Galway Simon’s Service Manager said: “It made the world of difference to be able to do our FEAD collection in one day and have a van and driver to help with this. Their help meant we didn’t have to pull staff resources out of services. The Enterprise team were brilliant and willing to get stuck in, it can be hard work to move all the food supply from place to place in one day!”

In 2023, Galway Simon Community supported 831 households, this comprised of 926 adults and 415 children, a total of 1,341 individuals.
