Ógras is an Irish-language youth organisation for young people from eight to 19 years old. It offers a wide range of youth services and activities including clubs, camps, trips, projects, workshops, and international exchanges, all through Irish.
The clubs are divided according to age: Óg-Ógras looks after eight to 12-year-olds, while Ógras serves those aged 13 to 19. The team are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and positive space for young people to make friends and have fun through Irish, helping them in their personal development, and to achieve a sense of community and a grá for Irish culture and language, their peers, and themselves.
Ógras works with local communities and schools throughout Ireland to set up clubs. The team love to hear from any community in Galway that would like to have a club as Gaeilge. More information is available on www.ogras.ie
Ógras also runs summer camps and has announced it will hold a camp in Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh in Knocknacarra again this year.
This club is a fun and social way to practise your Irish, and make new friends. Activities will include arts and crats, games, sport, and lots more.
Anyone interested in registering for camp or starting up a club can contact Patricia at 087 6035289 or gaillimh@ogras.ie.
