Waweru scores late equaliser for United

Galway United draw with Treaty United at Eamonn Deacy Park

Wilson Waweru's stoppage time goal ensured Galway United and Treaty United divided the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland first division spoils at Eamonn Deacy Park.

A wholehearted Treaty outfit were on the verge of securing a victory, but John Caulfield's charges earned a point late on.

Treaty struck in the 18th minute when Ed McCarthy headed home a splendid cross from former Galway United left back Marc Ludden.

In his 13th season in the senior game Ludden, who spent five campaigns with Mervue and seven at Eamonn Deacy Park with Galway United, supplied the assist for McCarthy.

With Sean McSweeney splendid for Treaty the visitors caused Galway some bother, but the home team improved after the restart.

Shane Duggan and Padraic Cunningham went close, but Treaty custodian Tadhg Ryan was impressive.

Conor Kearns made a vital stop to deny Treaty substitute Alan Murphy, who was released by McSweeney as the Tribesmen survived a scare.

United eventually rattled the Treaty net when Conor McCormack's free kick caused panic in the area with Waweru pouncing to level.
