United seeks FAI clarity before return to play

Galway United is awaiting clarification from the governing body, FAI, before planning its return to training.

In a statement issued this week, the club said while the club's National League senior and underage teams were keen to return to training and playing football, it must do so safely and when financially viable.

"We are also conscious that we need to do so in an environment that secures the health and safety of all involved and that follows the guidance and advice of both the FAI and the HSE.

"In addition to the priority of returning in a safe environment, Galway United, like all other League of Ireland clubs, need clarity on the financial support that will be provided to enable a successful and sustainable return to football."

That clarification is expected from the FAI later this week.

"Once we have all this information, we can take some time to discuss with all League of Ireland clubs and the FAI on how to make the return to football work, both safely and financially.

"We are aware that players, management, supporters and parents alike are keen to get back playing and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this next phase."
