Athlone Comhaltas welcomes new committee at recent AGM

Comhaltas Croabh Átha Luain welcomed new committee members at the recently hosted AGM.

Chaired by Ellen Costello and with Cian Cunniffe as vice-chair, Comhaltas Croabh Átha Luain is looking forward to a busy year,the aim being to commence the hosting of cultural events in Athlone, to include sessions and lessons.

Additional committee members appointed are Mary Norton, secretary; Tom Shine, treasurer; Fiona Moran, PRO; Lucy Nally, youth officer; Philippa Barry, competitions officer and Anita McEnroe, Irish language officer.

The newly elected committee would like to thank, for their hard work and dedication to Comhaltas Croabh Átha Luain, the outgoing committee members of Tom O’Connor, chairman, along with Maureen Cunniffee, Tom Shine, Eileen Daly, Aileen O’Connor and Patrick Mullooley.

At the first meeting of the new committee ideas and the objectives of the branch were discussed for the year ahead, including the implementation of a programme of sessions and lessons for young and old.

The branch also plans on working closely with the committee of Féile na Sionainne, giving its support to help make the 2024 Féile even bigger and better than last year’s event.

The first session will take place on Sunday March 10, from 4pm-6pm in the Knights of Saint Columbanus building, St Ciarán’s House, St Mary’s Square, Athlone (N37 H270 ). All musicians, dancers, story tellers, reciters (both children and adults ) are welcome and tea/coffee will be available.
