At the recently hosted Athlone GAA AGM which took place in Áras Chiaráin, the following officers were elected to the club executive for 2024.

Chairperson - Fiachra McLoughlin; vice-chairperson - Darren Magee; secretary - Karen Cunningham; assistant-secretary - Amanda Ganly; treasurer - Fiona Snow; PRO - Conor Small; registrars - Julie Fallon, Joan Mannion; child protection officer - Sorcha O’Rourke; coaching and games officer - Joe Fallon; players’ reps - Eimear O’Rourke, Lorna Mulvihill, Joanne Mannion and Noel Mulligan; Irish language and culture officer - TBC.

The club would like to thank all outgoing officers and executive committee members for their contributions during the year. We are especially grateful to outgoing Chair Fergal O’Toole for his contribution during his five years in the role. ‘Tooler’ put in a huge amount of hard work and dedication during his tenure in the chair and has left the club in a very positive condition for the incoming executive.

Minor Girls Division 3 Championship Semi-Final

Commiserations are extended to the club's minor girls’ team whose great run in this year’s championship came to an end in agonising fashion when they were defeated by Tyrrellspass by a single point after extra time in their semi-final in Páirc Chiaráin on Sunday afternoon.

Well done to the girls on their great performances during the year and thanks very much to the management team of Noel Mannion and Oliver Dwyer for all their hard work and commitment in preparing the team so well.

Congratulations

All associated with Athlone GAA send their best wishes to the club's child protection officer and ladies team member Sorcha O’Rourke for her upcoming wedding to Eoghan Grennan and also lcongratulate new executive committee member and ladies player Lorna Mulvihill on her recent engagement to Conor McHugh. Both couples are wished a lifetime of happiness together.
