Council Cathaoirleach formally launches Athlone Agri Show 2023

Westmeath County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr Aengus O’Rourke, formally launched the Athlone Agri Show 2023 in the surrounds of The Bounty Bar & Venue recently.

A large crowd was in attendance to hear Athlone Agri Show chairperson, Cllr John Dolan, express his gratitude to the event sponsors which he thanked for their continuous support.

The Fine Gael councillor also thanked Michael Donoghue for providing the land for the show and the wonderful, hardworking committee who put the show together.

Cllr O’Rourke then addressed the meeting stating that he was honoured to be asked to officially launch this year’s event.

“I love attending the Athlone Agri Show and I would like to praise the committee for their hard work as this year’s event fast approaches. Hopefully, the weather will remain dry on the day and the local community will give of their full support to the occasion,” Cllr O’Rourke stated.

This year’s Athlone Agri Show takes place on Sunday, June 18, in Garnafailagh on Michael Donoghue’s farm, commencing at 9.30 am. A free shuttle bus service will be operating from Golden Island shopping Centre every hour on the hour, starting at 11am with the last bus returning to Athlone at 6pm. A pick-up will also be made at the Fair Green bus stop.
