Seán Keane to headline virtually hosted Safe Home Ireland concert

Safe Home Ireland will host a Facebook Live Concert, led by ambassador and singer/songwriter Seán Keane on Mayo Day, Saturday, May 1.

Seán will be joined by an outstanding line up of internationally acclaimed singers, songwriters, musicians, and dancers, all from County Mayo and many performing from iconic locations around the county.

The line-up includes Stephen Doherty, multi-instrumentalist; Olwyn Murray singer/songwriter; Coda, singers/musicians; Rose/Cónan Kilcoyne and Pat Mulloy, singers/musicians and Atlantic Rhythm/Moffatt School of Irish Dancing.

Safe Home Ireland was established in Mulranny in 2000, where the charity’s head office is still located. Whilst Safe Home Ireland are a national charity with a global remit, they are extremely proud of their Mayo roots, therefore as part of their 21st birthday celebrations they are delighted to be partnering with Mayo County Council to organise this virtual concert for Mayo Day 2021.

“Mayo people are fiercely proud of their origins and heritage and we are the only county to have an annual day that is dedicated to its people and place. While we are really looking forward to connecting with our Mayo friends, family, colleagues in Ireland and abroad, our concert is not just open to Mayo people, we hope that we will get people from all counties and countries logging on to connect and enjoy a varied and enjoyable event from the comfort of their own home.

“The global health pandemic has had an impact on Safe Home Ireland’s services and the people it supports and one of our main challenges is promoting our service so that the Irish community abroad are aware of who we are, what we do, and how they can access the supports that we offer.

“We really hope that this concert will help us to spread the word about Safe Home, and allow us all to feel connected in a time when we must stay apart, and enjoy an evening of ‘Ceol, Caint agus Craic’, together,” Safe Home Ireland CEO, Karen McHugh, stated.

This calendar year marks Safe Home Ireland’s 21st anniversary and while this is a FREE event with all artists performing without charge, if you would like to support the charity’s work, please feel free to make a donation too.

Safe Home Ireland launched their fundraising drive to raise €21,000 in 2021 earlier this year and all funds raised will help support people returning home in crisis once restrictions are lifted and travel is permitted again.
